Privacy Statement

Atradius N.V., together with its subsidiaries and branches (“Atradius”), is a global provider of credit insurance, surety, reinsurance, debt collections and business information/intelligence services. Atradius operates in a business-to-business market. The products and services offered by Atradius aim to help companies around the world understand and protect against the default risks associated with the selling of goods and services and, in so doing, safeguard their sales. With these services we enable trade on a worldwide scale.

When providing our products and services, Atradius acts as “controller”. We collect and process information mainly on companies and businesses. However, in the process of doing so, we also process data that may be qualified as “personal data” which is any information relating to an individual (e.g. a sole trader, a company director, a beneficial owner, a professional contact etc.). Your trust in how we handle your personal data is important to us. When you use our websites, applications, portals, sign-up for our newsletters, engage our services as a representative or contact person of our customer, trade (as a counterparty) with our customers or do business with us as our business partner or supplier, it is important to us to use your personal data carefully and securely in a transparent manner.

In this Privacy Statement we provide information we are required to give in relation to the processing of personal data under data protection law. We explain for instance the purposes and grounds of the processing of personal data, the categories of personal data concerned, the categories of the sources and the recipients of the personal data, data retention and your rights as data subject.

 We strive for continuous improvement in our services, processes and protecting your personal data rights, so we may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. Therefore, we advise you to check this statement on a regular basis. This Privacy Statement was updated on 10 January 2024.

This Privacy Statement applies to all individuals and representatives of companies that Atradius interacts with. Atradius will process your personal data for different purposes and under a different legal ground depending on your relationship with us. Below we describe in detail when we collect and process personal data, our purposes and legal grounds for doing so and how we control access to your information.

5. International Transfers of personal data

 Due to the international nature of our company and our business activities, the data we process may be transferred to or accessed by other entities within the Atradius group or selected third parties. These entities and third parties are located in different countries around the world. In order to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Statement, your personal data may be transferred to a different country than your country of residence.

We only transfer your personal data within the framework of the relevant data protection law and in accordance with our Intra-Group Data Transfer Agreement.

When we transfer personal data outside of a restricted legal framework such as e.g., the European Economic Area (“EEA”), we have taken appropriate safeguards to provide an adequate level of protection according to the applicable data protection law. These are safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or the transfer is to a country which provides an adequate level of protection according to an adequacy decision of the European Commission.

6. How we protect your personal data 

We are committed to ensuring that your personal data is kept secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place appropriate physical, technical and organisational measures to safeguard the information we collect and process.

In addition, whenever we grant access to personal data or otherwise transfer it to third parties (as described I sections 1-4) we take steps to ensure that any personal data is subject to the same or substantively similar levels of protection that Atradius already implements. This includes conducting vendor security assessments and executing data protection terms (including data processing agreements) with third parties.

7. How long we retain your information

We generally shall retain personal data only: (i) for the period required to serve the applicable business purpose; (ii) to the extent reasonably necessary to comply with any applicable legal requirements; or (iii) as advisable in light of an applicable statute of limitations. Atradius may specify (e.g., in a sub-policy, notice or records retention schedule) a time period for which certain categories of personal data will be kept.

You may send us your request or complaint by submitting a form online. We will handle your request carefully and in line with the applicable data protection laws. . In some cases we may need to ask you to provide additional information to verify your identity in order to exercise your request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
